[Project Runway Season 7 Episode 3]

another week of Project Runway!

this week, Heidi Klum seems to have changed her script a little. there wasn't the usual "hello" or "i wish you all good luck. byeeeeee" and adds in that parting wave.

Would you like to meet some of the most iconic designers of all time?

yup, then basically the designers are sent off to Tim Gan

"Bye everyone!" --- new line so the designers met Tim Gan at the Metropolitan Museum of Art where they got to see clothes by well known designers up close. this includes pieces by YSL, DIOR, Madame Gres, Balenciaga, etc.

Challenge: Create a high end signature look worthy of a master collection.
a budget of $500 will be given and designers have 2 days to complete this llook.

as all the designers were getting all excited about creating such a look, Tim dropped the first bomb of the episode on them.

Catch #1: you will be working in teams of two.

So the leaders were picked out of a bag, with Jay automatically being a leader since he had immunity from the previous episode. so the pairings were:

Jay and Maya
Jesus and Amy
Anthony and Sethaaron
Janeane and Ben
Mila and Jonathan
Ping and Jesse

Ping was so happy to be a leader as she THINKS she can delegate responsibilities and give clear orders.

please.
i did not need to wait for the end of the episode to know what will happen.
this was ultimately obvious!

back at the workroom, Ping started to spill her ideas of how she wants the dress to be dreamy, soft, organic, fluid, etc.

errrr....okay.
poor jesse was really takenaback to be working with her!

at Mood, Ping lost her sketchbook and spent more time finding it rather than to pick fabrics. Ping and Jesse were basically not working well together and Jesse blamed it on Ping who was constantly changing ideas.

Tim came into workroom and i thought he was going to review the work progress so far. but...

Catch #2: create an additional look inspired by the signature look of another team. it has to be a 'look for less' with a budget of only $50.

basically, Ping screwed up again for this part by choosing really cheap and lousy fabrics because Jesse could not follow her to Mood and she had to purchase it herself.

some of the other pairings:

Jay and Maya

sethaaron and anthony

Mila and Jonathan

basically the whole episode focused on the bickering between ping and jesse, so let's fast forward to the runway!

i thought the signature looks were really quite bad, there was nothing which looked aesthetically pleasing. during judging, Jesse complained that he had to teach Ping sewing lessons. Ping's model also complained that she never got fitted into her dress.

the RESULTS!

and the winner is...

Winner: MILA
the judges raved and raved about her jacket, but i don't see this as classic, as compared to a YSL or dior
it seems like an adaptation of Adidas to me

Photobucket
High: Jonathan (Mila's partner)
the judges did not like this dress though, they thought that a babydoll dress was not the right way to go

Photobucket
Runner-up design: Maya (Jay's partner)
i feel that i understand this contour signature look more than the winning look...

Photobucket

Runner up: Jay
the judges raved that this $50 look seemed better than the $500 look

Now for those who were low and OUT...

Photobucket
Low: Anthony
this was really yucks, the bottom part of the dress was way too heavy!
the judges felt that it was way too costumey. and i can't stand the way Anthony talks in that gay-ish, sissy-ish slang! and he actually tried to ask the judges how they would design the dress if they were in their shoes. like wth! i'm sure the designers would share their opinions... which they did not...

Photobucket

Low: Seth Aaron (Anthony's partner)
this dress looks awful as well... but Sethaaron is really a good guy! he stood behind Anthony and said that even though Anthony was the leader, the work was 50-50, so none of them should be penalised more
awww...sweet.

Photobucket
Low: Jesse
this was horrible, the dress which ping did not fit on her model. for $50, i could have bought something wayyyy nicer than this grey crap

Photobucket
OUT: PING
finally the judges got it right, this was ultimately crap. who will want to hold up so much cloth to walk around?! i bet the judges had a very easy decision on who to eliminate.

Designers who were safe:

Photobucket
Jesus's design, modelled after Ping's signature look
well, considering how bad the signature look is, this is not that bad

Photobucket
i can't believe this is $500?!?

Photobucket
emilio's design - boringgg
and this model looks extra old and bitchy here

Photobucket
ben's design

Photobucket
anna's design

Photobucket
Amy's design
