[Project Runway Season 7 Episode 1]

PROJECT RUNWAY SEASON 7 HAS STARTED! :D

it just started on 14th january in the US, and some kindhearted soul has already uploaded it onto Tudou!
there are also some uncompleted uploads on You Tube, but the quality is really really REALLY BAD! Click on the link below to watch! I wish someone will upload a really clear, HD quality video :(

This season, it has moved back to its original location in Manhattan, New York City
the show started off with the introduction of all the designers, i noted 2 Asians amongst the pack. I always do that, the noticing Asians thing. I hope they last long, but sometimes, they do have a very odd style...

As usual, the designers had champagne at the top of the building on their arrival day. and we do note that heidi klum is pregnant again since she's having apple cider instead of champagne. wow, pregnant AGAIN!

The next day, the designers were told to meet at Central Park for the details of the 1st challenge. When they reached there, they saw fabric laid everywhere in the park. Tim Gan then announced their first challenge of the season:

First Challenge: Design a garment in which best represents you as a designer

Designers were given 3 mins to grab all the fabric that they want, and then they were given another chance to EDIT. meaning, they can only take 5 fabrics with them back to their workroom at Parsons.

Back at the workroom, they were introduced to some new technology: HP TouchSmart Notebook
basically it's like a tablet where they can draw. perhaps they are moving towards saving paper :s but is replacing a sketchbook with a Notebook really saving the environment? what about the cost of creating that HP TouchSmart Notebook? probably killed the environment somehow as well.

okay, enough about the environment.

generally the designs look terrible during the work stage. there was nothing absolutely outstanding nor beautiful nor to die for! in the past seasons, there were a few designers who just stood out right from the start! I was pretty bored watching Tim giving bad comments to almost everyone.

however, there is one designer who stood out (in the wrong way)

meet ping. the girl who does not use a mannequin and drapes cloths on herself instead. I don't get it at all, it's a weird working style. And it is difficult to work with cloths draped onto you? well, i predict she will not last long...or will she just go home today?

okay, after much of the usual "omg, i hope i finish my garment" drama, it was time to head down to the runway. of course, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia are back as judges. And guest judge for Episode 1 is Nicole Ritchie.

There were a few designs that were errrr... ohhhkayyyyy, most were weird, boring, normal.

and the Winner for Episode 1 is...

Emilio

well, i do think it's not bad, i really like the flowly part of the dress! but all the complications at the top are really not what i like. but as all the judges say, his technique is impeccable. then word 'impeccable' seems to be michael kors favourite word.

Photobucket

Top: Ping

i don't really get this at all. yeah it looks kinda bohemian style to put it politely, else, i'd say it's a big mess of cloth! but all the judges love it. geez.

Photobucket

Top: Seth Aaron

if i was the judge, this would have been my winner! and emilio will be second! but i guess seth aaron lost out because his dress looks too commercial. it's quite harajaku styled.

and heidi keep saying his name as sethaaron as in joined, totally couldn't catch it and had to check again what was his name!

now, the bottom few dresses...

Photobucket

bottom: anthony

ugh, i hated that thing at the side. but minus the thing at the side, it'll look like a very cheap dress that you can get at the night market! detailing is not great at all!

Photobucket

Bottom: Iesus

this screams CROCODILE. ugh, i thought it was awful. but i knew he will not be out. at least it showed off his liking for evening gowns.

and the first designer to be kicked out of the pack is...

OUT: Christiane

i think this dress is not that bad though. looks messily scrunged up at sides, does not look elegant. but it is something that i think some people may still buy!

i bet Christiane had a big shock of her life. she thought she will win with that dress, and at the start, she even talked about how she got an award, and had dresses on the red carpet recently.

like really?!? can't believe it

These are the other designs which were safe:

Photobucket
super UNFLATTERING pls!

Photobucket

er, don't get it. but i like double sided jackets!

Photobucket

not bad i think. fabric looks odd like paper though

Photobucket

i quite like this because it looks like something i can wear on a normal day
which means maybe it's not designerish enough

Photobucket

skirt too long. the top is just weird.

Photobucket

not liking the scrunged up balls. it's placed at odd areas.

Photobucket

normal. but i think it's not bad since Jeaneane redid it like SUPER FAST!

Photobucket

cliche square shoulders, boring colours

Photobucket

boring milkmaid

Photobucket

what a weird boob part for the dress! don't get it at all

i think these dresses were just safe because others are just much much much worse than them! being the best out of the worst is not something to be proud off either.

Season 7 seems to be going off to a really bad start...
