[La Cantina in Venezia]

remember the crabmeat linguine in which xiaxue always mentions about in her blog/twitter and how amazing it is and all that? she refuses to say which restaurant it is, only stating that it is located in the Changi area. but of course, there is always GOOGLE!

the power of Google led me to find...

actually i found it long ago, but the prices are just abit TOO expensive for me :( but yesterday, gh brought me there for dinner!!

HAPPY! (: *muacks*

throughout the journey, he still tried to make me guess where we were going for dinner. but of course, i had guessed long ago that we were heading for La Cantina. hahaha, i know i'm smart :P

when approaching the Changi Village Hotel, he seemed to like want to turn in, before doing a very abrupt right turn towards the Civil Service Club and then tried to fake me that we were going to eat Thai Pan.

ha-ha.
as if i'll fall for that.

it's because the Civil Service Club had per entry parking which is definitely cheaper than Changi Village Hotel's $2 per hour parking. CRAAAZZZYYYY! there were also hdb lots outside, with the standard hdb rates, but I think per entry is much better. You never know when the minah-wearing-a-hat comes by with her little black FINE machine!

of course, if it is a Sunday, don't be an idiot to park anywhere else EXCEPT the hdb lots.

it was a good thing gh made reservations, because the place was fully booked. so we went out to our alfresco dining area, where we passed by a door which said

"Alfresco dining closed due to strong winds"

hmmm, but the waitress still brought us there anyway, and presented us the menu and blabbered on about today's special. which i just pretended to act interested in. because there was no price mentioned, meaning SUPER EX LA CONFIRM!

our menu, it looks very battered to be honest
it doesn't look that bad here because i photoshopped the colours!

alfresco dining at La Cantina
the wind was really really really strong! the wind was able to BLOW that chair away!

Photobucket

the scenary was really... not much
and because changi is in the east, you can't see the sun set anyway
also, there's this tall structure which blocked the western view, so, nope, no romantic sunset view

second (:
the second picture has wayyyy too much contrast, but i just like it like that :p

We ordered:

Linguine Al Granchio (crabmeat linguine in creamy tomato sauce) $26.90
Italian Soda $4.50

freaking ex right! but it'll be stupid to order softdrinks, that cost $3.90. so Italian Soda was the next cheapest! could not really order much because it's too expensive. in fact we just ordered Italian Soda for shuang, instead of just having plain water.

after much wind blowing, where my wet hair turned magically dry in seconds, we asked to move back into indoor dining. Gh was afraid that the rain will blow all the linguine sauce onto our clothings! which was really a valid concern considering the VERY VERY VERY strong winds!

so we went back inside, and our food was served!

yummilious crab linguine!

it was fresh crab meat which have been deshelled! taste really good! sweet and juicy, and perfect for lazy people who hate to dig the meat out of the crab shell

Photobucket

super duper happy me (:

the crab linguine was not bad, though i'd have preferred the linguine to be softer, and for it to have more sauce. it was way too creamy so it got quite dry after awhile. best is if it has a vermicilli option, because that will be much softer and easier to eat!

but the crab makes up for it (:

my italian soda

my first impression of the restaurant was that it does not look very grand, and it looks super small as well! but when i looked up, i realise that there was a second floor dining area!

Photobucket

it looks pretty nice, quite like the Italian style with those pillars! and the cloudy sky wallpaper also made it quite like those museums in Europe, which seems to have some obsession with ceiling wallpapers. Usually it is decorated in christian sort of pictures.

Photobucket

even though the exterior is not very impressive, but who cares, food's great! ambience is okay i guess.

Photobucket

it is located at the poolside of the Changi Village Hotel

Photobucket

the view, basically of a carpark
very blurry picture, no flash so the whole picture was actually black
gh did take one with flash, but i don't like it :P

this place lacks good view
if it had a nice view like the singapore skyline, or the beach, i think more people will flock to this place!
